Hello there!
Hi! I am Thais, a world traveller and scientist with a knack for science communication and content strategy.
After working and studying in several countries, I decided to combine my experience in scientific research with my background in marketing and communication to create Science Writer Space (SWS)
SWS helps science-based companies reach their target audiences through a science and medical content strategy designed for long-term and meaningful results.
The story behind SWS
SWS happened organically.
It originated from networking at conferences and industrial exhibitions, attending lectures and scientific presentations, and listening to clients’ demands. I learned that what was evident to me seemed like rocket science to fellow researchers trying to communicate their science and some marketers working in the science industry.
The “new” SWS was born from industry needs and customer requests – they provided me with the data used to renew SWS offers and reshape the scope of my work.
SWS and science content strategy
I started SWS to provide science writing services. I thought I would ask what the client needed and write or review the content for them.
Sounds simple, right? It wasn’t.
I started noticing a massive difference between what they wanted and what they needed.
Soon, my briefings turned into hours of consulting service that resulted in a tailored content framework to connect business goals with a structured and measurable communication strategy.
Ultimately, I provided the advice, the strategy, and the metrics more than the writing.
I designed content to reach acquisition goals and create brand awareness.
That is when the new SWS was (re)born. Now, SWS focus on creating valuable internal and external communication plans for sustainable and meaningful results.
Who I work with
Through high-quality, targeted content frameworks, I help science-based companies strategically create content that educates their audience and creates brand awareness.

My professional journey
Writing compelling applications and presentations opened many doors for me around the globe (see my full CV here). I hold a:
- PhD in Molecular Medicine from Hannover Medical School, Germany;
- Master of Science in Molecular Biology from Umeå University, Sweden;
- Bachelor of Applied Sciences with a double major in Biosciences and Biotechnology from RMIT University, Australia.
Before science, I studied International Marketing and Social Communication and worked at an advertising agency. At that time, I knew more about marketing than science.
After my bachelor’s, I moved to Thailand to work as a divemaster for Marine Resource Management initiatives and reef restoration projects. I developed educational programs and collected data for non-profit organizations, such as Project Aware and Reef Check Foundation.
After Thailand, I moved to Sweden and did my Master’s degree while working as a research assistant.
I fell in love with the lab and research! So, pursuing a PhD seemed like the obvious choice at that point. I published several research abstracts, some scientific articles, and presented my work at several conferences across Europe.
Following a short postdoc, I decided to better blend my diverse and international experience. I went back to my origins in marketing and communication and combined them with my scientific know-how.
SWS was born organically because it was the only way to go. The journey was long, full of uncertainties, and fueled by self-discovery. I allowed my journey and customer demand to shape SWS’s offers and identity to create something rare to find and, yet, extremely needed.
Now, I want to share this experience with others and hope that SWS’s journey can help scientists and other professionals communicate science effectively and expand their reach into the world.

A bit more about me
Born and raised in Brazil, I developed an early love for science and nature. That passion took me on a journey towards knowledge and discovery.
Opportunities led me to a very diverse and international professional path. I have lived in the United States, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Sweden, Germany, and France (where I am currently based).
In order to finance my bachelor’s in Australia, I worked as a flight attendant based in Dubai (yes, all at the same time). A challenge that required mastering the skills of time and project management way before my PhD.
Outside work, I am a competitive sailor and a professional diver. I competed in sailing championships all around the world (including three world championships and some exclusive regattas) and worked as a volunteer divemaster for environmental and educational projects in Thailand and UAE.
I am passionate about education, human and animal health, sustainability, animal welfare and the Four Noble Truths.
You can find me on LinkedIn and Instagram.
